Helping You Pick Your Queen Size Beds Mattresses

Queen size beds offer up a lot of different choices when it comes to the types of mattresses that are offered on today’s market. The queen beds themselves are bigger than twin beds but smaller than that of a king size bed. But did you know that a queen sized bed is the most popular choice when it comes to the size of mattress. There are some things to consider when you go to purchase your new bed.

When deciding on queen size beds you will be looking at different types of mattresses. Bedroom collections are not complete unless you have the total package. Why update your bed but not your mattress? When replacing beds mattresses you will want to consider a few things. Do you like your bed to stand tall? Do you like a firm mattress or do you prefer a softer one. These two questions are important when it comes time to pick out the right mattress for you.

Sheets and bedspreads for a queen are going to cost more than bedding for double beds or twin beds. That means that it is going to cost more for the mattress and box springs as well. This is an area where you do not want to be miserly. A cheap mattress will be uncomfortable and will wear out faster than a well made mattress. Most queen mattresses are going to run you anywhere from $300 to $600 or more depending on the type of mattress that you buy.

A good mattress will be an investment in your sleeping future. The mattress should be durable and be stain resistant. Many new brands offer allergen free materials to help those individuals who have bad allergies. This may factor into the cost of your new mattress set. You want to rest comfortably in the bedroom, not sneeze a hundred times because you are allergic to your new mattress.

Unlike older style queen size beds you are pretty limited in the color of your mattress. This should not be a problem though since your bedding will be what is layered upon your bed. If you live in an apartment, then a queen size bed is the optional choice as most apartment bedrooms are very limited on space. You still have plenty of options when it comes to your new bed. Try it out in the store and you will surely be pleased with the result.

Useful Tips When Choosing Your College Bedding

TheLoudestVoice | February 15, 2009

bedspreads

One day you’ll want to be sophisticated. One day you’ll pay hundreds of dollars for Tommy Hilfiger bedding or thousands for Aninachi bedspreads. For now though, you want machine washable college bedding that’s colorful, decorative and inspirational, as well as spill/puke friendly. After all, there will be a lot of parties and a lot of stuffing your face with leftover Chinese food (in bed) while cramming for that exam. Space and stylistic options are both limited in dorms, so what is a confined college student to do? Well, choose the most interesting comforter set he or she can find!

Here are a few helpful tips for you when you go shopping for dorm bedding. First, buy extra-long twin sheets. Normal sheets won’t fit the beds properly. Secondly, don’t get white. You’ll be pretty much living in your room and the last thing you want is something that’s boring and will show stains. Buy more than one set of sheets because, regardless of your intentions, you’re going to put off doing laundry. You should change your sheets every week, ideally, so keep that in mind. Lastly, buy a mattress pad! Whether it’s memory foam, feather down or egg crate, you’ll need some sort of defense against the rock solid, one-inch-thick dorm room mattress.

Next, you’ll need to consider choosing a college bedding style. “Dorm rooms aren’t just a place where you plop your stuff while you study,” says Jeff Gawronski, product manager for www.dormbuys.com. He adds that more and more students are foregoing taking hand-me-downs and are actively purchasing stylish comforter sets, although the male/female approaches are different. According to Gawronski, “Where girls care more about color, style and matching it to their dorm decor, guys care about being simple and not corny, and most importantly, comfortable. They care that it is not too styled or patterned and there are one to three colors max.”

One place to check for college bedding is www.designpublic.com. Area brand bedding is a good option for college students who want that organic, serene modern look. You can find whites, blues, greys, or tans with breathable organic cotton fabrics. You can choose from pinstripes, circles, stripes, zigzags, blocks of color in green, orange, pink and blue. Area bedding adds style to an otherwise generic dorm room and will be the comforter set your son or daughter keeps for their first house or apartment one day.
