Since your marriage ceremony will be the highlight of a lifetime, you will want to consider that time spent in planning and details will be well rewarded.  This includes everything, right down to the arrangements for the wedding reception.

If you are getting prepared for planning a reception, here’s a look at how a standard one usually goes.

The wedding reception is often held immediately after the marriage service, usually as soon as possible.  As soon as the guests enter the reception area, they are acknowledged and escorted to their seats.  In the event that there is a set seating arrangement, this should be followed. If the reception seating is not assigned, then guests are welcome to find their own places and sit by whomever they would like.

After this, the couple makes their grand entrance, to the accompaniment of effects such as confetti, bubbles, fog, etc.

After the couple enters, they should give recognition to the parents and main sponsors, letting them get up and signal with a wave. After this, ask the bride and groom to go towards the cake, for the cake cutting ceremony.  This is where, if you choose, the doves would be released, as well as a formal champagne toast.The maid of honor traditionally performs  an thanksgiving prayer at this time. After this comes the meal, in which the guests are called for pictures with the bride and groom.  After this, they go to the buffet table to run things at the table.
